Women's Health and Infertility

The complexity of a woman’s reproductive system means many things can affect its health. Chinese Medicine is very good at balancing the system and bringing it back into harmony.

In fertility work we often use the garden metaphor. For the seed to be planted and grow, the soil must first be lovingly tended and enriched. Using herbs and acupuncture does take time, as opposed to using artificial methods to promote ovulation, and then using insemination. But herbs and acupuncture bring lasting benefit to all aspects of the woman’s health. If a pregnancy does occur, the woman will not be exhausted by the rigors of medical appointments, injections, and invasive procedures. Of course, TCM can be used as an adjunct to Western medical methods as well, if that is what you desire.

Our very first goal is to make the periods as normal as possible. This means they should be pain-free and regular.

I will ask to see the basal temperatures when fertility has been a concern for a while. Another matter that has a bearing is the father’s health. Some cases benefit from both partners getting treatment.
