Respiratory

Looking through the window you can see the sun is finally out. You’d love to go for a walk and air out your place but you don’t dare, even with your scarf and coat. It seems like you always have a cough or a runny nose. If you have asthma, you also have to be careful of triggers like cold weather or allergens.

The drugs for asthma can have unpleasant side effects. Western medicine doesn’t have much to offer for other respiratory problems unless you get a sinus infection or bronchitis. Even then, the antibiotics deplete your energy and upset your digestion. A yeast infection often follows.

I’ve treated many patients with acupuncture and herbs on a regular basis until they are stronger. The immune system is trained to function better by using acupuncture points on the arms, hands, and neck. Needles also relieve specific symptoms, like a runny nose or sinus headache. Patients are sometimes amazed by how much better they feel after just one treatment. Herbal teas, custom made, are also an important part of recovering, and can be combined with Western phytotherapy such as Echinicae.

"When I first came to see Gabrielle, I had very low energy. My voice was weak, and I was using an oral steroid called Advair morning and night for asthma. I was taking Guanefesin for phlegm, I had the Rescue inhaler for coughing spasms, and a nebulizer for difficulty breathing. After several treatments, I already felt stronger. I was not needing the nebulizer and inhaler at all, and have not used them since. After about a month off treatments, I talked to my doctor, and stopped taking the Advair as well. Right now I am not taking any medication for allergies or asthma. - Susan McIlwain"

"I felt much better today! I didn't expect such fast relief! I had an easier time breathing. I coughed, cleared my throat and blew my nose very little today. I didn't have a headache and my throat didn't feel so tight " -Kay Suttle
